I’m in the car and the toronto radio station chum fm just mentioned that fans should breathe easy because one direction isn’t breaking up (I also heard the host mention them reuniting in 2017 or something along those lines).
This is one of the biggest radio stations in the city and I find it interesting they’re counteracting the uk tabloid break up rumours now when as far as I know the most recent wave of those rumours never really hit North America (aside from Perez Hilton and tmz).
I always thought the 2017 “reunion” rumors were interesting because of Ticketmaster (which has direct relations to Irving Azoff). They tweeted something last year about how people should look out for One Direction in 2017, maybe something about a tour. There are so many rumors that link to 2017, and I think they have a planned tour scheduled then (they have to be planned far ahead, so it makes sense), and the rest of this year could be a break/promo/announcing anything…. important.
This is the tweet (I may mention that Irving Azoff was a chairman and the previous CEO of Ticketmaster Entertainment, and that Ticketmaster has never given into the break up rumors and they’ve stayed consistent in their words that they’ll be coming back) :
